We’re counting down to Independence Day, arguably the most challenging American holiday for dogs that we celebrate (although Halloween comes in a close second).
What to do if your canine companion falls apart at the mere mention of a firecracker?
The most important safety precaution is to keep your dog safely inside, making sure that you get his bedtime potty break in well before the pyrotechnics begin. Shut and lock the windows and doors, draw the blinds and put on the AC and some fans for white noise. Play soothing music to drown out (as much as possible) the noise that so frightens your dog, and consider sticking close to home so you can offer comfort if your dogs seeks it.
